Las Vegas and Paradise

Toward the Las Vegas Strip from Paradise
Las Vegas (often abbreviated as "Vegas") is the most populous city in the state of Nevada, United States, the seat of Clark County, and an internationally known resort, shopping, entertainment, and gambling destination.
Many of the largest hotel, casino and resort properties in the world are located on the Las Vegas Strip (also known as The Strip), only part of which is located within the city limits of Las Vegas, Nevada: the section North of Sahara Avenue. The section South of Sahara Avenue (which is most of The Las Vegas Strip) is in the Township of Paradise, in Clark County, Nevada.
Paradise also contains McCarran International Airport. Therefore, many tourists visiting "Las Vegas" actually spend most of their time in Paradise. For many of the townships south of Las Vegas City limits (including Paradise, Winchester, and Spring Valley) the US Postal Service assigns "Las Vegas, NV" as the last line of their address rather than "Paradise, NV", "Winchester, NV", Spring Valley, NV" etc. which adds to the confusion of what city or town you are in.
Over the years, Las Vegas Boulevard South has been called Arrowhead Highway, "Salt Lake Highway", U.S. Highway 91, and Los Angeles Highway. The Strip was reportedly named by Los Angeles police officer Guy McAfee, after his hometown's Sunset Strip.
